Pete Voros Mayor of Pittsgrove, delivered 13 Meals on Wheels to senior
shut-ins for the annual Mayors for Meals Campaign on March 22nd.
Mayor's for Meals is a component of the annual March for Meals event
that calls attention to the needs and challenges of elderly nutrition
programs nationwide. Also delivering meals was Rev. Timothy Hines of the
Elmer Presbyterian Church who delivers meals on a regular basis.
On this designated day American Mayors across the United States showed
their support for Meals on Wheels in their city by delivering meals to
the seniors.
The even is to help promote Meals on Wheels and increase public
awareness, recruit new volunteers and increase local fundraising. Voros
said "delivering meals to the seniors in my township allowed me as an
elected official to see first hand how the program works and the impact
it made on the seniors. I urge people to become volunteers for the
Meals on Wheels program, because it really make a difference to our
seniors and disabled. citizens.
Meals on Wheels of Salem County mission is to deliver nutritious meals
to elderly and disabled county residents who cannot shop for or prepare
meals on the own because of physical or mental disabilities.
