NEW BUSINESS:
WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
Ken Martin was in attendance
on behalf of the Pittsgrove Wrestling Association. They are interested in constructing a building at Green Branch
Park to hold wrestling practices and clinics.
The building would be funded and maintained through donations and
fundraisers from the wrestling club.
First step is approval from the Recreation Committee to proceed with the
project. The project will probably take
a couple of years from start to finish. The land for the building would be
leased from the Township. There would
be no financial burden to the tax payers.
Ralph Padilla commented idea is a worthy one and would alleviate need to
use school facilities and issues with fees that result.
On a motion by Audrey
Mavroff and seconded by Sue Voros, a recommendation to proceed with project was
approved.
VOTE: ALL IN FAVOR
Kate Harrison and Kathy
Shelton arrive at 8:10pm
PARK REQUESTS
On a motion by Sue Voros and
seconded by Sam Amico, park requests for Pittsgrove Midget Football (contingent
upon detailed schedule), Donna Metzger, Elmer Ace’s (contingent upon detailed
schedule) and Jennifer Anderson were approved.

Soccer Club were approved (contingent

CONCESSION STAND
Members reviewed
documentation from the Salem County Health Department regarding use of the
concession stand. The issues are being
reviewed by the Township Administrator and will be addressed promptly.
OLD BUSINESS:
OUTDOOR MOVIES
No new information on this
idea. This idea will be revisited next
month.
PITTSGROVE DAY
Linda
DuBois was unable to attend due to illness.
Secretary reported donations and vendor applications are coming in. Volunteers are needed to help the day of the
event. Also, the contract for the
fireworks is being worked on and should be finalized shortly.
EASTER EGG HUNT
Sue
Voros said the event is organized. She
needs volunteers to arrive at around 11:30am that day to help set up. Ralph Padilla has organized some volunteers
to help with set up and also possibly to sell refreshments.
GROUP INSURANCE
Jeff Ridgway is still working on getting information
from the various sports organizations and get a quote from the insurance
carrier. Kathy Shelton provided him
with some information from the insurance carrier used by the ice hockey team
her son plays on.
PARK
REQUESTS
Secretary informed members that detailed schedules
have been received from the Pittsgrove Flag Football and Elmer Titans so
far. Sam Amico and Edson Creamer suggested
looking into a computer program to help organize the scheduling. There is an
increase in number of organizations using the facilities and this would help
alleviate any problems that might occur with scheduling. Also, the locks have been changed at the
concession stand.
ANIMAL
ORDINANCE
Township Committee is still waiting to hear from the
Township Solicitor on this matter. Committee will revisit next month.
Harry Snyder arrives at 9:00pm.
GREENBRANCH
PARK
Jeff Ridgway and Ralph Padilla expressed concern about
the amount of soccer tournaments that have been held at Green Branch
recently. Members expressed concern
over the “blanket request” soccer receives for the entire year. Harry Snyder indicated he has concerns about
field maintenance with fields being used this much. PSC members who are not involved in these tournaments have been
unable to use proper soccer fields.
Secretary was instructed to request David Mulford, Township
Administrator to write a letter to PSC letting them know we need a detailed
schedule to review ASAP. Ralph Padilla
inquired if the Township has any more sign available directing traffic to Green
Branch Park to alleviate confusion for people attending events at the
park. Members agreed with so many
people from out of town attending the soccer events traffic on certain roads is
an issue.
FACILITY
VISIT
Bruce Ricards, Walt Wenner and Edson Creamer presented
a slide presentation of their visit to the Hamilton Township facility on
Saturday, March 25th. The
members got a lot of new ideas for facilities in Pittsgrove. Committee thanked them for such a thorough
presentation.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business on a motion by Sam
Amico (and Kate Harrison) and seconded by Audrey Mavroff, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:20pm.
VOTE: ALL IN
FAVOR
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Metzger, Secretary
