CALL MEETING TO ORDER

Risea Rodgers called the meeting to order at 8:10pm. With salute to the flag and the reading of the Sunshine Law.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 8, 2004 MEETING

On a motion made by Mike Newton and seconded by Bruce Ricards, the aforementioned minutes were approved as submitted.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

Risea Rodgers noted that after reading the minutes she wanted to make it clear that it was never her intent to take funding away from other projects and designate funds to Unity Park. She just wants to make sure the township remembers the park when budget is being discussed.

NEW BUSINESS:

YMCA-CAMP MERYWOOD PRESENTATION

Lisa Sheetz from the Vineland YMCA was in attendance.  The summer camp run by the YMCA is looking for a possible partnership with the township.  Camp Merywood is located in Pittsgrove Township and provides summer recreation. The camp is celebrating 50th anniversary this summer and is planning a major promotion of the facility.  Ms. Sheetz reported that approximately 25 children from Pittsgrove attend the summer camp and they are trying to figure out what the barrier is that keeps this number from being higher. Facility is looking to expand by clearing more area and is looking for possible assistance from Pittsgrove with this. Jeff Ridgway said he would talk to Harry Snyder about possible help from County Sheriff Office and Department of Corrections.  The committee discussed going through the school system with advertising for this program to make residents aware of what it has to offer.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY ACTIVITIES

Risea Rodgers presented a copy of letter the Mayor had received regarding possible Martin Luther King Day celebrations.  A 2005 calendar is being published and it is too late for Pittsgrove to add anything but it is something to look into for 2006.  Odd Fellows Hall was mentioned as possible site for breakfast, ceremony or activity for 2006.  The committee will follow up on this later in the year.

PARK REQUESTS

On a motion by Mike Newton and seconded by Kate Harrison, request by Pittsgrove Soccer Club for 2005 was approved.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

The committee agreed to table request by GC Yankees 18AA until further information is obtained on this organization.

Harry Snyder has made a request for a new flag pole at the park.  Members agreed this would be something that they could possibly get donated.

RESIGNATION OF CHERI BARTON

On a motion by Mike Newton and seconded by Bruce Ricards, the resignation of Cheri Barton was accepted with regret.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

ED OLBRICH CROP DAMAGE

There being no further business on a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Audrey  Mavroff , the meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm.
