MINUTES

      MARCH 7, 2005

 

The Recreation Advisory Committee held it’s regularly scheduled meeting in the Pittsgrove Municipal Building on March 7, 2005.

 

Members present were Bruce Ricards, Risea Rodgers, Fiore Copare, Michael Newton and Audrey Mavroff. Alternate members present were Sue Voros and Walt Wenner. Sub committee members in attendance were Linda DuBois and Jeff Ridgway. Harry Rodriquez was in the audience.

 

CALL MEETING TO ORDER

Bruce Ricards called the meeting to order at 8:00pm. With salute to the flag and the reading of the Sunshine Law.

 

DESIGNATION OF ALTERNATES

Sue Voros and Walt Wenner were appointed to perform duties of regular members.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE FEBRUARY 7, 2005  MEETING

On a motion made by Mike Newton and seconded by Audrey Mavroff, the aforementioned minutes were approved as submitted.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

YANKEES BASEBALL TEAM PARK REQUEST

 

Harry Rodriquez was in attendance representing GC Yankees 18+ baseball team.  After a brief explanation of his park request on a motion by Mike Newton and seconded by Walt Wenner his request to use Green Branch Park on Sundays was approved. (Excluding dates park is exclusively reserved by Soccer Club or for Township events)

VOTE:  ALL IN

 

RESIGNATION OF JOAN WOJULEWSKI

 

On a motion made by Mike Newton and seconded by Fiore Copare, the resignation of Joan Wojulewski from Recreation Advisory Committee and as Chair person of  Pittsgrove Day was accepted with regret.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

 

Members who had spoken with Joan prior to her resignation noted she was very upset with budget cuts to Pittsgrove Day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

PITTSGROVE DAY

Linda DuBois was chosen to be new Chair person for Pittsgrove Day.  Parvin State Park participation on Pittsgrove Day was discussed and members agreed to go ahead with this idea.  Members discussed having more volunteers to help on Pittsgrove Day (with such things as parking, trash removal and to assist with amusements) to help keep costs down.

 

EASTER EGG HUNT

Sue Voros reported donation letters had been sent and items for the activity had been purchased.  Cheri Barton had agreed to be the Easter Bunny.  The Boy Scouts were going to help fill Easter Eggs with candy at their next meeting.

 

Risea Rodgers arrives @ 8:30pm.

 

FIELD MAINTENANCE

Jeff  Ridgway reported he had spoken to Harry Snyder and soccer club to determine what is needed as far as fertilizer for the fields.  Soccer is looking into contracting a  private company to mow/bag additional clippings generated from fertilizer.  Harry will patch and re-seed the game fields.

 

UNITY PARK

Risea Rodgers updated committee on plans for Unity Park.  Original plan for Unity Park will remain with the addition of a walking track.  Grants are being applied for to begin project.

 

PARK REQUESTS

On a motion made by Sue Voros and seconded by Risea Rodgers, request by Elmer United Methodist Church to use Deer Pen Park for Easter Egg Hunt was approved.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

 

On a motion made by Mike Newton and seconded by Audrey Mavroff, SJ Women’s Soccer Assoc. request to use Green Branch Park was approved

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR

 

There being no further business on a motion by Walt Wenner and seconded by Bruce Ricards, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00pm.
