Sub Committee members for Pittsgrove Day (Joan Wojulewski – Chairperson and Risea Rodgers – Co-Chairperson) and the Easter Egg Hunt (Sue Voros – Chairperson and Audrey Mavroff – Co-Chairperson)
PARK REQUESTS
Secretary reported she contacted Elmer Ace’s,
Pittsgrove Pumas and Elmer Little League and asked they get park requests in as
soon as possible so the request by GC Yankees 18AA can be revisited and any
potential conflicts resolved. She
mailed all of the organizations the necessary forms and hopes to have them back
in time for the February meeting.
COMMEMORATIVE BRICK PROJECT
Sue
Voros reported the second order of bricks will be back by end of the week and
weather permitting put in place. The
first order has been placed at Green Branch Park. Committee members feel once residents see the bricks in place
sales will increase.
PITTSGROVE DAY
Linda DuBois suggested that
instead of just Green Branch Park being used for Pittsgrove Day other township
parks be involved. When Pittsgrove Day
was first started both Green Branch and Deer Pen parks were used for the event
with a shuttle running between the two parks. Sue Voros suggested incorporating
a scavenger hunt type theme where participants would receive a stamp for
visiting areas and be able to enter to win some sort of door prize (Elmer does
this for it’s annual Harvest Day event) Parvin State Park usually has
activities that day and could be incorporated into Pittsgrove Day
activities. If there is interest in
doing this the Chairperson from the Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee
could attend an upcoming meeting and discuss possibilities. The secretary will contact the Pittsgrove
Day Chairperson to discuss (she is on vacation) and get back to Mrs. DuBois.
ED OLBRICH CROP DAMAGE
Bruce Ricards reported that to the best of his
knowledge Mr. Olbrich has received check for crop damage that occurred during
soccer club tournament.
FOOTBALL
AND SOCCER FIELDS
Walt Wenner expressed concern over condition of the
football fields at Green Branch Park.
The holes in the fields could possibly become a safety issue if not
addressed. He feels they need some
additional maintenance in addition to routine maintenance provided by Public
Works. Bruce Ricards indicated that
soccer is considering entering into a private contract with a weed and feed
type company for three of the soccer fields and asked if football might be
interested in joining in. Mr. Wenner
indicated that football might be able to contribute a small amount but does not
have the financial means that soccer does.
The secretary and Mrs. DuBois will take these concerns to Township
Committee and have them advise the organizations how to proceed.
There being no further business on a motion by Risea Rodgers and
seconded by Audrey Mavroff , the
meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Metzger, Secretary
Recreation Advisory
Committee
