Members present were Bruce Ricards, Sue Voros, Audrey Mavroff and Kate Harrison. Alternate members present were Kathy Shelton and Edson Creamer. Sub committee member in attendance was Linda DuBois. Jeff Ridgway, Risea Rodgers, Ralph Padilla and Walt Wenner contacted secretary prior to meeting to advise they would not be able to attend. CALL MEETING TO ORDER Bruce Ricards called the meeting to order at 8:10pm.with salute to the flag and the reading of the Sunshine Law. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE April 3, 2006 MEETING On a motion made by Audrey Mavroff and seconded by Kate Harrison, the aforementioned minutes were approved as submitted. VOTE: ALL IN FAVOR NEW BUSINESS: NEWS LETTER ARTICLE Members suggested article regarding brick project, Easter egg hunt, animal ordinance and possibly a short quiz related to recreational facilities in the township. Kate Harrison inquired why the township doesn’t allow animals in the park if they are on a leash since the enforcement of the no animal ordinance doesn’t seem to be working. Members stated they feel even more issues would arise if animals were allowed in the park. PARK REQUESTS On a motion by Kate Voros and seconded by Audrey Mavroff, park requests for Gallo, Weaver, Thompson, Zinni and Hughes were approved. VOTE: ALL IN FAVOR OLD BUSINESS: BUDGET A copy of the approved budget will be provided for the next meeting. There was a discussion regarding how to pay for items needed to bring the concession stand up to health department standards. Bruce Ricards has spoken to David Mulford, Township Administrator and was informed the money requested for items in the concession stand was not approved. These items are part of the items the health department wants in place. Members feel the township needs to help with the costs to get the concession stand up to compliance with the health department. Members do not feel that Pittsgrove Soccer Club should be solely responsible for this, that the township and soccer club (along with donations from citizens and groups) should all be used to solve this problem. There is no immediate threat of the concession stand not being available for use but the problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Kathy Shelton and Audrey Mavroff will investigate possibility of the Willow Grove Ladies Auxiliary donating something to the facility. They will report back next month. OUTDOOR MOVIES Linda DuBois told members the Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee has a small projector available. Sue Voros knows Harry Snyder has a screen available. Edson Creamer offered to help with the sound system. He might have equipment that would be sufficient. Members agreed to revisit this idea in a couple months and possibly hold such an event in the fall. EASTER EGG HUNT Sue Voros reported the event went very well. The magician did a wonderful job. The secretary reminded everyone that Clean Communities paid for the magician out of their budget. Sue also mentioned what a wonderful job Harry Snyder did at the event. He was the DJ and it really made the event run smoothly. She estimated about 300 children attended and the volunteers who helped that day did a great job. GROUP INSURANCE Jeff Ridgway was unable to attend so this will be revisited next month. Bruce Ricards reported that PSC has approximately 600 children participating in the soccer program. He knows Jeff is trying to get a number of children from all of the groups in the township to proceed with getting a quote from insurance carrier. PARK REQUESTS Detailed schedule has been received from the PSC. The Township Administrator and Recreation Secretary both reviewed it and found it very difficult to understand. The soccer club received a letter from the Township Administrator asking for schedule organized in a format that is easier to understand. Bruce Ricards said he is frustrated with correspondence between the township and the PSC. Linda DuBois said she thinks better communication between the PSC and the township is what is needed to solve any issues between the PSC and the township. Bruce said the PSC understands this and wants to move beyond this issue. On a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Sue Voros, members recommend a meeting between Bruce Ricards(Recreation/PSC), Linda DuBois(Township Committee), David Hayman(PSC) and David Mulford(Township Administrator), to discuss scheduling information and issues at the concession stand. Secretary will arrange the meeting. VOTE: ALL IN FAVOR ANIMAL ORDINANCE Township Committee is still waiting to hear from the Township Solicitor on this matter. Committee will revisit next month. Sue Voros reported larger signs regarding the ordinance are being worked on for Pittsgrove Day. PITTSGROVE DAY Linda DuBois reported Pittsgrove Day is coming together. She needs volunteers for the day of the event. The Bank will be sending volunteers but members of the community are still needed. Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee is handling all of the rides and games of chance. Crafters and food vendor applications are coming in along with donations. Donations will be acknowledged in a paid newspaper add, poster and flyers, depending on amount of donation. Envirosafe has donated water to be sold by vendors the day of the event. She is trying to keep politics out of the event if possible. RELAY FOR LIFE AND PSPAC Kate Harrison inquired if the Relay for Life event request was approved by Schalick H.S. Secretary said it was and she believes the event will take place on June 10th & 11th. Linda DuBois wanted to let members know the Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee will be hosting a circus on September 17th and proceeds will go to raise money for the committee. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business on a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Audrey Mavroff, the meeting was adjourned at 10:22pm.
