OLD BUSINESS:
Sue Voros reported the engraving on the first order of bricks has been completed and are being shipped back. Harry Snyder has purchased the necessary equipment and she is hoping the bricks can be put in place quickly.

2005 BUDGET & UNITY PARK
Committee members reviewed the 2005 budget requests. Secretary reported that due to time constraints she had called the chairperson, Risea Rodgers, to go over budget specifics. Most line items remained the same as 2004 except for request made by Risea Rodgers for funds for Unity Park. Fiore Copare and Ralph Padilla questioned whether funds for this project should come from the Recreation budget or out of the capital budget. Members indicated they thought the project would be funded through grant monies. Fiore Copare was concerned that funds might be cut from other projects that Recreation always supports in order to fund Unity Park project. Bruce Ricards said that Recreation should support these projects by possibly purchasing equipment but paving and other such expenses should be requested from the capital budget. Discussion was tabled until Maxine Hargus can discuss this matter with Township Committee and report back to Recreation. On a motion by Fiore Copare and seconded by Mike Newton, approval to request $2,000.00 for park maintenance/improvements in recreation budget was approved.
VOTE: ALL IN FAVOR
ODD
FELLOWS HALL
Maxine Hargus reported a $400,000.00 grant has been obtained. This grant will be used to bring Odd Fellows Hall up to code and make it handicap accessible.
Sue Voros inquired as to the outcome of meeting between Bruce Ricards, Jeff Ridgway and Ed Olbrich. Bruce Ricards responded that he had contacted Jeff Ridgway via e-mail to set up meeting and had received no response. Sue Voros stated she thinks Mr. Olbrich has valid concerns and didn’t want to see this matter go unresolved.
All
members who were present indicated they would like to continue their service to
the committee for another term. The
secretary will contact members who are not present to find out their
intentions.
Maxine
Hargus reported that the state police would be more aggressively enforcing No
Dog Ordinance at the township parks. Maxine Hargus requested that the secretary
send a note to all athletic organizations that utilize the park asking them to
make members of their organizations and opposing teams aware of this.
Bruce Ricards announced that the CP United Pride Girls U-11 Soccer team had one the state championship. Committee members commented on article that appeared in the Salem Sunbeam and Gloucester County Times profiling the Copare children and their accomplishments. Bruce Ricards suggested the Odd Fellows Hall would be a good place to display trophies won by local organizations.
Walt Wenner was in attendance and reported that Pittsgrove Midget Football is trying to obtain score board for Green Branch Park football fields.
There being no further business on a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Mike Newton, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm.
