RECREATION AREA IN BROTMANVILLE

Risea Rodgers reported that Unity Park has been chosen as the name for the new recreation area.  Matt Butler and Colin Coswell both submitted the winning name.  Both boys will be presented with a $50 savings bond. Groundbreaking ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for 11:00am on Saturday, October 23rd. The secretary will place announcement in the papers and send out invitations announcing the event. The committee would also like to place a temporary sign at the site.

BUDGET

The secretary reported that there was $6,161.00 raised during 2004 for Pittsgrove Day 2005.

NEW BUSINESS:

PITTSGROVE DAY

Sue Voros informed the committee that Liz Farver who is the PTSO President is planning a carnival as a fundraiser and would like it to coincide with Pittsgrove Day.  The committee was in agreement this would be a good idea and would be a way to provide rides for the event without funds coming from the Pittsgrove Day budget. Only concern was food vendors associated with carnival since many local organizations count of money raised that day from food sales.  Sue Voros will follow up on this .

GREEN BRANCH PARK

Maxine Hargus reported there is a problem with dogs at the park. She has received complaints that some parents are bringing dogs while children are participating in sporting events at the park.  The secretary will submit an article to the Pittsgrove Fall Newsletter reminding everyone that dogs are not allowed at the facilities unless posted otherwise. Also suggested it should be reinforced to all groups using Green Branch Park to remind members of their organizations to observe rules regarding dogs.

CORRESPONDENCE FROM EDWARD OLBRICH

Bruce Ricards and Jeff Ridgway indicated that they thought the value put on damage to Olbrich field was very high based on what they observed.  A split rail fence was put in place by Public Works and should prevent this problem in the future.

On a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Sue Voros, approval was given for Bruce Ricards and Jeff Ridgway to meet with Mr. Olbrich to discuss a solution to this matter.

VOTE :  ALL IN FAVOR

There being no further business on a motion by Kate Harrison and seconded by Bruce Ricards, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm.

VOTE:  ALL IN FAVOR.

Respectfully submitted,

Donna Metzger, Secretary

Recreation Advisory Committee
