Arbor Day Celebration GROWS in
Pittsgrove Township
Mayor Peter Voros of
Pittsgrove Township and the Pittsgrove Township Shade Tree Committee (STAC)
invite you to participate in our township wide Arbor Day celebration. On
Friday, April 28, 2006, come out and meet members of our Township
Committee and other community organizations at the Veteran’s Memorial
Monument located adjacent to the Municipal Building at 9:00 am for the
opening event. The tree planting ceremonies will travel throughout the
community on Friday to plant trees at Norma Elementary School, Olivet
Elementary School and Schalick High School.
“In the last four
years over 100 volunteers have helped to plant over a 600 trees during
our Arbor Day ceremonies,” state Mayor Voros. “Our community residents
are very aware of the need to protect our fragile woodland areas and
enhance our wildlife habitats by adding more trees in select areas of
our township.”
This year Pittsgrove
Township was a recipient of a grant which awarded 500 trees to the
community (free of charge) by the New Jersey Tree Foundation as part of
their “Celebrate Arbor Day/Make A Difference with Trees!
Project.
“Many of these trees
will be planted at Green Branch Park to create a wind break and to shade
play ground areas. Yet others will be cared for and maintained for two
years while they grow and develop before being re-planted in other
public locations thought out community.” stated Township Committeewoman,
Christine Seeney who serves as liaison to STAC.
Grab your shovels and
gloves and come out and help “Keep Pittsgrove Green”. All children and
youth who volunteer with this project will receive a free tree to take
home and plant.
